MNUAT is a public university established in 2012 under the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) with registration number CR.1/029. The University is dedicated to advancing education in agriculture, engineering, technology, and agribusiness. It is strategically located in Butiama, the birthplace of Tanzania’s founding father on a 573.2-acre main campus. MNUAT also operates the 149.3-acre Tabora Campus, the Oswald Mang’ombe Campus, and several other land parcels across the Mara Region to support future growth and specialized projects.

As a modern “Fourth Generation” and entrepreneurial university, MNUAT combines high-quality academic programs with strong community engagement. Inspired by Mwalimu Nyerere’s philosophy of education for self-reliance, the University focuses on equipping students with practical skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and technological expertise to solve real-world problems. This hands-on, industry-focused approach prepares graduates not only to succeed in their careers but also to become innovators, leaders, and job creators, contributing to sustainable development in Tanzania and beyond.
