The Mwalimu Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MNUAT) Library Unit serves as a critical academic resource center dedicated to supporting teaching, learning, research, consultancy, and outreach services. The library plays a central role in the University’s vision of being a hub for Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI), particularly in agriculture and related fields. It provides access to a wide range of physical and electronic resources, including books, journals, periodicals, databases, audio-visual materials, and digital repositories.
The library is structured to serve students, staff, researchers, farmers, and other stakeholders through the Main Library and satellite units within various colleges, schools, and departments. Its services are anchored on core values of collegiality, excellent service delivery, access to information, innovation, and the promotion of teaching and learning. Key services include circulation and lending, reservation of key resources, inter-library loan (ILL), reference services, technical capacity building for users, and publishing services to support scholarly communication.
In alignment with MNUAT’s strategic objectives, the library is committed to modernizing its ICT infrastructure to enhance access to information and ensure the security of its resources. Through partnerships and linkages with other institutions and continuous updates to its collections, the library ensures it remains responsive to the evolving needs of its users.
The Library subscribes to the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and efficiency while fostering a conducive environment for academic excellence. The library’s guiding motto is: "Promoting Quality Information Resources and Services for Excellence."
